New works by Vibha Pankaj and Sarah Longley ARUA in our very first pop-up exhibition post-lockdown, in the heart of St Andrews in the Gallery Upstairs at Innes.
It was a very great pleasure to welcome Sarah back to the Junor Gallery, also to welcome Vibha, an artist new to the gallery, whose works I know you’ll enjoy. Be sure to view the new video of Vibha speaking about what inspires her, the close relationship between her painting and music, the concept of rasa in Indian art, and much more.
In keeping with the gallery’s focus on the relationship between art and poetry, these artists’ work has a close relationship with contemporary poetry. Vibha’s artworks accompanied Bashabi Fraser’s poetry collection, ‘Patient Dignity‘. Sarah’s artworks include the original illustrations for her father Michael Longley’s poetry collections inspired by Homer and Ovid, Homer’s Octopus and Metamorphoses as well as artworks which in turn have inspired poetry from her father.
It was wonderful to meet new visitors and to welcome back familiar friends of the gallery. I’ve posted new videos on art and poetry on the website (click on Videos tab) and on the Junor Gallery YouTube channel – I hope you enjoy these insights.
