Acrylic on paper

From a series of intensive studies of this most distinctive of mountains in the Scottish Highlands.

Full of energy and colour perfection in the broad horizontal bands in the upper quadrant. The assured, flowing lines of the artist’s portraiture are visible in the lower quadrant.  In these landscapes Moffat is like a musician who’s reached peak performance level. Magnificent.

“Because it’s so different from painting a portrait, painting a landscape becomes an enjoyable experience…another kind of painting, freer, and unburdened.”  – Alexander Moffat
