Acrylic on canvas
You can see the artist speaking about her work here.
This is a large scale painting in Nicol’s characteristic style – the ever-changing built environment within timeless natural surroundings, in this instance the sky – always a dramatic element in the artist’s work.
The artist writes: ‘The M8 paintings are important to me. I was fascinated as a very young child by the motorway and can recall going up to say goodbye to the canal as it was being filled in to make way for it. My first real job was with the distillers Whyte & MacKay working with the master blender Richard Patterson in Dalmore House which is detailed in [this] larger painting.’
