Calum Colvin was born in Glasgow and studied art in Dundee and London. His early interest in sculpture led him to develop his unique style of ‘constructed photography.’ Portraits begin as staged sets composed of everyday furniture and a selection of objects based on thorough research, onto which he paints the portrait. Recently he has used digital technology to generate images that are explorations of Scottish culture and history. He has exhibited extensively worldwide. His work is held in public and private collections internationally. He is currently Professor of Fine Art Photography at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, University of Dundee.
