Snowdrops in Kirkton

119 x 178cm
Sarah Longley

Charcoal on paper

Kirkton in the Western Highlands of Scotland is situated very near to the artist’s studio.  As well as inspiring some of Sarah Longley’s most highly regarded work to date, the landscape of Lochalsh also inspires her father’s poetry.

Michael Longley’s eleventh collection, ‘Angel Hill’ was published by Cape Poetry in 2017 and is dedicated to his daughter Sarah.

Kirkton churchyard in Spring, teeming with new life amongst the gravestones, is a recent fine example of this highly regarded artist’s work. ‘Snowdrops in Kirkton’ develops themes seen earlier in the artist’s Angel Hill series.
