Baucis & Philomen V is the original pen and ink drawing for a new chapbook collaboration between poet Michael Longley, artist Sarah Longley ARUA and publisher Andrew J Moorhouse: ‘Metamorphoses’, inspired by Ovid’s classic story of an elderly couple’s love and the generous hospitality they share with strangers at their door.
Sarah Longley trained at Edinburgh College of Art, where she graduated with First Class Honours in Drawing and Painting. She is an Associate Academician of the Royal Ulster Academy.
She has exhibited her work widely, in both group shows and solo shows throughout Ireland, the UK and France. Her work is held in public and private collections, including in the Crawford Municipal Gallery in Cork, Ireland; Ulster Television; Edinburgh College of Art; Department of the Environment, Northern Ireland; Self-portrait Collection Limerick University; Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast (who now hold her Portrait of Helen Lewis from her solo exhibition in the Junor Gallery).
