About the Artist
Richard Wotherspoon is an award-winning painter. He trained at Edinburgh College of Art to post-graduate level in drawing and painting. After earning his first degree, he won a scholarship to Yale University.
His influences are polymathic and encompass literature, physics, astronomy, a keen knowledge of the landscapes near his Fife home and the work of contemporary artists such as Anselm Kiefer (b. 1945).
He has a powerful style, building up layer upon layer of pen & ink, oil pastel and shellac in rich colours and strong outlines.
His work is held in private collections in America and throughout the UK.
